iabin and GBIF

The goals of GBIF align well with those of IABIN, and the implementation of IABIN will fulfill the biodiversity information-sharing requirements for GBIF membership. The Chair of the IABIN Council signed the GBIF Memorandum of Understanding in May 2001. As an Associate Member, IABIN supports the GBIF objectives of sharing, using and coordinating massive data sets, and of catalyzing new technologies applicable to biodiversity information. In addition, efforts within the IABIN network to encourage compliance with appropriate selected standards will facilitate the incorporation of Western Hemisphere data into GBIF.
